If Dr. Ruth met Pope John Paul II...

"An orgasm is just a reflex like a sneeze." Ruth Westheimer

"The subjective happiness which they (the couple) then share (in mutual orgasm) has the clear characteristic of the enjoyment which we have called 'frui', of the joy which flows between one's own actions and the objective order of nature" Karol Wojtyla

  1. Okay, the juxtaposition of that photo of His Holiness with that quote is very amusing to me.

    Does that make me sophomoric?

  3. Please forgive me for going off-topic, (and a great topic it is! :) ) but I wanted to commend you for your wonderful comment/quote at Ales Rarus on the topic of "man boobs". (I feel so...weird...typing that!) I clicked through and you've got some great posts here too. Very encouraging!

  4. This is one good way to sum up the difference between secular culture and healthy religious culture.

From both Dr. Ruth's and JP2's viewpoint, one can explain how mutual orgasm is desirable and why husbands should take seriously the need to be good lovers. The difference between the two approaches lies in what orgasm is supposed to be about. The former thinks it's about animal pleasure, mechanically achieved; the latter, about deep mutual communion.

Amy, please keep up this blog after you move to Denver and marry. So few people are doing this for the theology of the body, and it's so necessary.
